Please let the homeowners know that the Board and Stacy are exploring options to increase our security around the complex as well as strengthen the Palisades’ role in renter selection in response to the recent criminal activity. The Board has already approved raising the wattage in all street lights in the complex to increase visibility (replacing the bulbs with some extra costs is necessary) and is exploring the options of adding lighting to the satellite areas. We will be speaking with our attorney regarding Knox County ordinances which may help with the occupancy issue. Jeff will also be calling the police to see if we can get put on a drive through list at night. Let everyone know we are responding as quickly as we can to this situation. -Steve Gillman, PCA Board
Oh wow, I just saw Tammy’s post on another thread. Thanks for the head’s up, Tammy! I haven’t heard a word about this! Yes, we should keep our eyes peeled for ourselves and for each other. I take it that the car break-in occurred late at night? I’d like to know more about it.
The break-in occurred at 12:30am. We know who committed the crime and we have more than enough evidence to prosecute.. Yes, the THIEF IS a current renter of a palisades unit. Please trust me when I say that this situation is SERIOUS beyond belief which sadly prevents me from elaborating further, at this time.. I WILL provide complete details, when possible.. Until then,, keep a sharp eye open!
I know if you go downtown and talk to any officials they hold the Palisades in LOW REGARD. It will be interesting to see if Jeff can get the police to add extra patrols when I know he has been thrown out of several offices downtown for his attitude. Officials have had the fact that the Palisades is PRIVATE Property thrown up in their face so much that they don’t care what happens here. Maybe if Jeff goes down with hat in hand and talks nicely to the Sheriff they may actually help us.
I don’t know all the illegal acts going on in here, but it appears from what I have heard that they occur from our own neighbors who are renters and not owners. I don’t know of a case where an owner has been accused of a wrong doing. It would go a long way if the INVESTORS in here who rent properties were better at running credit checks and making sure good citizens are our rental neighbors. After all if you went across the street to the apartments and tried to rent one, you would have to endure a credit check. It is still up to the investor, but if they are good neighbors and owners, they would be interested in protecting us all from any criminal element. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk.
