We have had wonderful times having “covered dish” dinners, grilled hamburgers, etc. in the Club Room in the past. It is a great way to get to know one-another. I hope we will and hope everyone no matter what age wants to give a helping hand in doing this. A committee who can plan this type of event will be a blessing to our community. Give it a try?…YES!
I have several ideas we could try as well. First I will say that the “covered dish” idea has always been a good one in my experience. I also thought of a community “garage” sale, a block party and also some sort of bonfire at Halloween? Of course we could also do wine and cheese–that doesn’t require elaborate seating or a set time to start.
I will be happy to help with arranging some of this, although I don’t have the time to devote to being the leader of a committee. So how do we get the ball rolling? Ask Stacey when the clubhouse is available and just pick a date and time? Then do we send invitations or just post on the notice board? I think invitations are a better attention-getter, but it’s not free of course. We’ll need volunteers to set up beforehand and clean up afterward. I assume that cleaning supplies are in the clubhouse already? In fact, I have no idea what could be provided by the clubhouse (meaning tables, chairs, dishes, etc.)?
Hopefully I will serve on the Building, Maintenance Committee which will require me to walk the property on a routine basis. My doctor would be very proud of me if I walk the property as many times as possible; therefore I volunteer to walk the entire property passing out invitations to any social events we choose to have. I think that both handing out notices and posting on the notice board is the most effective way to get the word out.
THERE IS A SOCIAL PLANNED FOR THE POOL ON JULY 3 FROM 12:00-2:00 P.M. SO FAR THERE IS NOT A LOT OF INTEREST THAT I HAVE SEEN. WE NEED MORE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT.
Nice idea in theory, but skeptical. .
I think it would be great! I’d love to get to know some more neighbors…
