Submitted by Father Webster: Should towing from numbered spaces be controlled only by the owner and not an automatic tow away by wrecker service? The owner of the space should be the only one who can initiate a tow away for their numbered space.

We should require that the current contract be canceled and a new contract be completed. Any contract should comply with the Rules and Regulations requirements that all contractors be required to supply a copy of their liability insurance, their Workman’s Compensation insurance and a list of vehicles that we be on the property. Also, all home owners and their renters must be thoroughly informed of the towing company’s rates and rules for retrieving towed vehicles. This is important to me because I think the past predatory towing practices gave the Palisades a black eye.
I think the owner of the spot should control the towing. People do need to respect the numbered spaces. I feel like the past towing practices were not beneficial to the Palisades and its owners. It needs to be handled fairly.
I agree with “others” that the “owner” should be THE ONE to initiate any necessary towings [from numbered spaces. The towing practices that have prevailed, have most definitely left a black mark on "life at the Palisades".. In addition, I would like to suggest that each owner be issued a "single" guest pass [for the unmarked parking spaces.. Anytime I have company to visit I have to once again play musical cars and parking tags, so my guest won't end up being robbed by the current predatory palisades/towing company [a MOST unpleasant task when it is pouring down rain I might add]… I cannot begin to describe what a negative image THAT leaves upon my guests [about the place in which I reside]… A “single” guest pass would allow for residents to have a guest to visit TEMPORARILY,, but would prevent multiple guests from taking over all available spaces [such as with parties].. It is my humble belief that these issues CAN BE resolved in an intelligent and beneficial manner,,, IF,, such is NOW the case..? Time will tell. . .
A motion was passed in our May 2010 meeting and will be in our comment letter to the PCA Board for the June meeting that “the homeowners want the current towing agreement cancelled and the home owners of the numbered spots to be the only persons with the authority to ask for a vehicle to be towed and all other spaces are open parking”.
The “rules” of parking should most definately be reevaluated. We ourselves have been towed from OUR very own marked space by the predatory towing company. My mother-in-law was here for a visit and parked in an unmarked space (of which there are plenty of). She was here for only a matter of about 30 minutes when her car was towed. A friend of mine was here to deliver a package to us and after being here for five minutes the tow truck was pulling up to tow her away as well. Are we not allowed to have friend’s and family over? This rule is quite ridiculous and should be changed. As long as a car with no tag is in an unmarked space it should be left alone. Towing of any kind should be left up to the owner’s. If someone is in their space that shouldn’t be let them take care of it.
I am also curious as to why all unit’s get two tag’s and one space regardless of how many bedroom’s they have. If we are going on a tag system shouldn’t one bedroom unit’s get one tag, two bedroom unit’s two tag’s, and three bedroom unit’s three tag’s? I agree that if whoever makes the rules insist’s on the tag system we should at least get some guest tag’s to go along with it as well. I personally think we should do away with the tag system all together and every unit should have 1,2,or 3 marked space’s depending on the number of bedroom’s and all the rest of the space’s should be first come first serve.
By the owner if there is no more than 2 times. People should respect numbered spaces or face towing .
I firmly agree with Father Webster!!

I think the owner should initiate towing from numbered spaces, not the tow truck drivers.
